Please plan to join us Wednesday, March 2, at 7:00 PM in the Cathedral for our Lenten Taizé Prayer service.
This form of prayer is modeled after the daily services of the monastic community of Taizé in France. Consisting of the singing of simple refrains and psalms, short readings from Sacred Scripture, a period of silence and meditation, and intercessions for the needs of the Church and the world.
Taizé Prayer is characterized by simple solemnity, the abundant use of candles, and the veneration of icons. Some of the Taizé refrains which are well-known at St. James are “Jesus, Remember Me,” “Ubi Caritas et Amor,” and “God Is Forgiveness.” The singing will be supported by the Cathedral Choir and orchestral instruments.
